Course Description:
The objective of this course is to provide a culminating experience for senior students where they can develop their work within a workshop environment. Concurrently, we will look at strategies used by successful artists and resources available to use for promoting oneself as a professional practicing artist. Capstone consists of five components: a project proposal, an art project(s)for the capstone exhibition, a written 10-12 page research paper which contextualizes the students work in a historical, theoretical, and or social context (or who, what and why), a 1 page artist statement, and a professional (reproducable) portfolio and resume.

Course Objectives:
1. Complete and publicly present a project within the capstone exhibition.
2. Participate in constructive critiques of one's own work and the work of classmates.
3. Submit a research paper, artist statement and a piece statement as part of the Senior Capstone requirement for majors in the school of art.
4. Prepare a professional resume, artist statement and portfolio (that is reproducable). The portfolio can take the form of a web site, cd, dvd or book.
